Sohail Khan Productions is an India motion picture production and distribution company, based in Mumbai. The company was founded in 2004 by actor Sohail Khan, younger brother of actor Salman Khan. The company has produced nine films so far.
History
Sohail Khan Productions first film was I - Proud to Be an Indian which was a disastor on the box-office. Production house first hit was the film Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya? in which he also co-starred with his brother Salman Khan. He wrote the story, produced and acted in the multi-starrer Fight Club - Members Only (2006), which did not do well at the box office.
Khan has also produced live stage shows in India and all over the world featuring various Indian film stars. His company also produced music videos and even made a foray into television with 'Chehre Pe Chehra' which was directed by Rishi Vohra.
It initially saw huge scale success with the blockbuster movie Partner, directed by David Dhawan starring Salman Khan, Govinda, Katrina Kaif and Lara Dutta.It was released on 20 July 2007. 2009 years was also a dull year for the production house with only two films Kisaan and Main Aur Mrs Khanna, both failing at the box-office but with Wanted, they bring in big profits.
2011-present
Sohail Khan Productions produced Ready, starring Salman Khan and Asin in the lead roles. The film was released on 3 June 2011. Upon release, Ready became the second highest opening day grosser, as well as the second highest weekend grossing Bollywood film, after Dabangg, produced by his brother's company, Arbaaz Khan Productions. It is currently the highest grossing Bollywood film of 2011 and the third highest grossing Bollywood film of all time after 3 Idiots and Dabangg. Their next movie is Jai ho, set to release on 24 January 2014, starring Salman Khan.
