Caroline Cruice Goodall (born 13 November 1959) is an English actress and screenwriter.

Early life



Goodall was born in London to a journalist mother and a publisher father. She went to St Leonards-Mayfield School and graduated (1981) with a Bachelor of Arts in Drama and English from Bristol University, alongside fellow screenwriter Jeremy Brock.Caroline was a member of National Youth Theatre

Career

Goodall appeared extensively on stage, joining the Royal Shakespeare Company and then the National Theatre, before being chosen by Steven Spielberg to star in Hook in 1991. Since then she has worked on film and TV projects in the USA, Canada, Europe and Australia. She was nominated for Best Actress by the Australian Film Institute in 1990 for Cassidy, and in 1995 for Hotel Sorrento. She was nominated for a Logie Award for Best Actress for A Difficult Woman in 1998, which also won best TV mini series at the New York Festival in 1998.

As a screenwriter, in addition to The Bay of Silence for Radiant Pictures, Goodall's credits include screen adaptations of Rupert Thomson's Dreams Of Leaving for HKM Films.

In 2012, Goodall appeared on the ITV series Mrs Biggs as Charmian's mother Muriel.

In 2013, Goodall appeared in the television series The White Queen portraying Lady Cecily Neville, Duchess of York, the mother of kings Edward IV and Richard III. The series revolves around three women who played a role in the War of the Roses; Elizabeth Woodville, Lady Margaret Beaufort, and Lady Anne Neville (grandniece of the Duchess of York).

Goodall married Nicola Pecorini on 17 September 1994. The couple have two children, Gemma and Leone. Her sister is producer Victoria Goodall, who is married to actor/director Dallas Campbell.
