Istanbul is a 1957 American adventureâ"drama film directed by Joseph Pevney and starring Errol Flynn, Cornell Borchers and John Bentley. It is a remake of the film Singapore with the location of the action moved to Turkey.
Plot
An American becomes mixed up with various criminal activities in Istanbul.

Production notes
- Errol Flynn was paid a reported â¤150,000 for the film. It was the first movie he had made in Hollywood for a number of years, since Against All Flags (1952). Cornell Borchers was already attached to the film when Flynn signed on.
- Flynn signed his contract on 16 February 1956 and filming began the following week.
- Flynn took a flat salary instead of a percentage. All the money Flynn earned went to the payment of his debts.
- Universal considered Jeff Chandler to play "Jim Brennan" and Robert Middleton to play "Mr. Darius."
- It was the second of two films Borchers made for Universal. Universal were very big on hiring stars with international reputations at the time.
- Some scenes were shot on location in Istanbul, Turkey
- Peggy Knudsen's last movie.
Release
- Kim Inc., which had the rights for a 1954 film called Istanbul starring Virginia Bruce, brought a suit against Universal claiming $450,000 in damages and an injunction stopping use of the name Istanbul. This was dismissed.
- Released on VHS home video (1996); Released on DVD with "Singapore" as a 2-film set, but currently unavailable.
