Chadwick Aaron Boseman (born November 29, 1976) is an American actor, playwright, and screenwriter. He is best known for portraying Jackie Robinson in the 2013 film 42 and James Brown in 2014's Get On Up. He will be starring as the superhero Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War which will be released in May 6, 2016; and his own solo film as the titular character, which is scheduled to be released November 3, 2017.

Boseman was born near the Blue Ridge Mountains in Anderson, South Carolina, the son of Carolyn, a nurse, and Leroy Boseman, who owns an upholstery business. He graduated from T.L. Hanna High School in 1995 and later attended and graduated from Howard University in Washington, D.C. In addition, he graduated from the British American Dramatic Academy at Oxford, England. From 2002-2007, Boseman was the drama instructor in the Schomburg Junior Scholars Program, housed at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, in Harlem, New York.

As a playwright, his script for "Deep Azure," performed at the Congo Square Theatre Company in Chicago, Illinois, was nominated for a 2006 Joseph Jefferson Award for New Work. He has also had television roles in Lincoln Heights as Nathaniel "Nate" Ray and as Sergeant McNair in the NBC television series Persons Unknown. Boseman also stars as Lt. Samuel Drake in the action thriller The Kill Hole.

Boseman's film debut came in 2008, when he appeared in "The Express: The Ernie Davis Story," where he portrayed future Hall-of-Famer, Floyd Little. He starred in the 2013 film 42 as Jackie Robinson. In 2014, Boseman co-starred in Draft Day as Vontae Mack and starred as James Brown in Get on Up. He will also be playing Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War, as well as an upcoming solo film in November 2017.
